Another Sad Love Affair
(From the album ‘flesh blood wood steel’)
what’s this heartbreak
what’s this pain
what’s this crying inside
why do lose all sense of time
why can’t I find my way home
why these tears
why these bitter, bitter blues
it’s another sad love affair
what’s this taste that once was so sweet
what’s this poison so vile
what’s this darkness this night without end
what’s this nightmare so long
what’s this heartbreak
there’s no end in sight
it’s another sad love affair
last thing at night
I wait for the phone to ring
I wait for her voice
and the tears the pain will bring
feel so low
it seems like its up to me
it’s another sad love affair
Baby’s Singing The Blues
(From the album ‘flesh blood wood steel’)
guess you’re wondering where I was last night
guess you’re wondering what’s wrong
I never thought you’d give in so easy
I had you figured out for someone strong
but man, you should never trust a cheating girl
’cause last night she gave me the news
this is your baby calling you back
and baby’s singing the blues
guess you’re wondering what I did last night
when she told me you’d lied
guess you didn’t plan on the way that I’d feel
I feel so broken and dead here inside
but man, don’t ever trust a cheating girl
when she’s got nothing to lose
this is your baby calling you back
and baby’s singing the blues
guess you’re wondering what I will do next
now that you’ve cheated on me
well don’t wait by your telephone baby
’cause you won’t hear a single word from me
and man, don’t ever cheat on your loving girl
put yourself right there in her shoes
this is your baby calling you back
and baby’s singing the blues
Bert Weedon’s Blues
(From the album ‘All Stars And All Sorts’)
Bert played the pier on a saturday night
all rock n’ roll no band in sight
just a suit and a red guitar
how many notes in a minute? Bert was something to see
Hank was the man and Eddie had the twang
but Bert was a hero to me
‘Lay Down Your Head Tom Dooley’,
‘House Of The Rising Sun’ 3 chords in a day, learn how to play
I never had so much fun
teach me how to play one more song
then I know I’ll be free
Hank was the man and Eddie had the twang
but Bert was a sight to see
I’ve left my youth behind me
brushed the dust from off my blue suede shoes
and then I notice I’m singing
Bert Weedon’s Blues
I watch old movies in the afternoon
I play my old 45’s
watch people coming to Yarmouth Pier
out on a sunday drive
one stick of a rock and some candy floss
sit back and check out the views
but Hank’s past his prime and way out of time
so now I’ll sing Bert’s blues
so much has changed so much is lost
but we can’t change our past
and now I’ll hold on to my memories
but still can’t make them last
Bucks Won’t Buy You Love
(From the album ‘flesh blood wood steel’)
my helicopter’s broken
my submarine won’t work
my baby didn’t come home last night
she’s out there with some jerk
my Lear jet has been grounded
my Jag’ is out of town
my little girl has left me
and I’m feeling like a clown
well loving starts out easy
until you have to push and shove
money isn’t everything
and bucks won’t buy you love
my yacht is up in dry dock
I lost my house in San Moritz
my baby’s with another man
and she calls me from the Ritz
my life is burnt in ruins
I’m staring at the walls
my baby’s gone and dumped me
and my shrink won’t take my calls
my private zoo is closing down
the reptiles got the sack
I sent back all the leopards
but I want my baby back
Cocktail Parties
(From the album ‘All Stars And All Sorts’)
(Nigel Dick / Nicky Graham)
well I hope that what just happened to me
never happens to you
my best friend took me for a drink last week
and then he gave me the news
he said, “the girl you’ve always loved
I met her at a cocktail party,”
he said, “you know she wants to be free,
she’s leaving you for me!”
it was only today that I got the sack
and I tell you it’s completely unfair
my boss told me “you’re always late for work
and I don’t like the clothes that you wear
but the thing that hurts me most of all
is that you’ve changed my life
the woman you scored with late last week
just happens to be my wife!”
Oh no!
I met her at a cocktail party
a cocktail party
a cocktail party
they took my living away
two kisses at a cocktail party
a cocktail party
I don’t know what I’m gonna do
’cause the booze has got me the blues
Dangerous Games
(From the album ‘flesh blood wood steel’)
(Nigel Dick / Brian Linse)
I love my baby and her baby walk
I love my baby and her baby talk
I love my baby with her high heels on
I love my baby ’cause her legs are long
my baby leaves her underwear at home
my baby likes it when we get alone
my baby likes to wear her dresses short
just hope me and baby don’t get caught
don’t tell my wife
don’t tell my kids
what me and baby just did
don’t tell Aunt Sally
don’t tell Uncle Sam
she’s pushing my buttons
and I don’t give a damn
my baby likes to do it in trains
my baby likes playing dangerous games
my baby knows what we’re doing is wrong
she sure knows how to turn me on
DENVER TO DOVER
(from the album “Weird Stain”)
I have seen the sunset at the Pyramids
I’ve ridden over rivers on a train
I’ve spent cold nights out under the stars
I’ve slept in a castle in Spain
I’ve dreamt dreams of women who would warm my bed
I’ve seen a million smiles or more
I’ve been the whole world over
from Denver to Dover
but I’ve never met a girl like you
I’ve watched Northern Lights seen Southern Seas
ridden through the Rockies on my own
I’ve dallied in the deserts in the high degrees
packed pachyderms in jungles far from home
I’ve dreamt dreams of women who would soothe my head
flown a million miles or more
I’ve been the whole world over
from Tenby to Tacoma
but I’ve never met a girl like you
I’ve topped all the charts
for breaking women’s hearts
it’s happened to me time and again
amongst girls I’ve kissed
I’m on the most wanted list
I’m the king of causing them pain
I’ve been the whole world over
from Denver to Dover
but I’ve never met a girl like you
DNA
(from the album “Weird Stain”)
Jack packs schoolbooks climbs on board
and dreams of high maths scores
Jill ignores him pouts her lips
and combs her hair once more
then three little letters get in the way
you can’t ignore or turn away
together they’re drawn like nature’s pawns
it’s just their DNA
they’ll have their schemes and teenage dreams
they’ll tell white lies and slink away
they’ll hold their hands and make bold plans
but nature’s had its way
Jack packs a carry-on climbs on board
and dreams of higher sales
Diane ignores him feels an itch
and turns another page
then three little letters get in the way
and wedding vows are tossed away
and once they’ve kissed they can’t resist
it’s just their DNA
they’ll have their schemes and lovers dreams
they’ll tell white lies and sneak away
they’ll hold their hands and make bold plans
but nature’s had its way
don’t be afraid mother nature’s had her way
don’t be afraid – it’s just your DNA
Jill packs a punch sh’es found him out
her dreams have crashed and burned
Jack ignores her feels the pain
of lessons he has learned
then three little letters get in the way
forgiveness grows and wins the day
their love has grown they’ve always known
it’s just their DNA
they’ll raise their kids and sacrifice
grow old together, fade away
they’ll hold their hands and make bold plans
and nature’s had…
their youthful schemes and lover’s dreams
they told white lies and sneaked away
they held their hands and made bold plans
but nature, oh nature, mother nature’s had her way with you
Flying Hooves Of Steel
(From the MTV film ‘2gether’)
Nigel Dick / Robby Scharf
(dickwords & music / Robby Scharf music)
clippety-clop, clippety-clop, clippety- clippety- clippety-clop,
clippety-clop, clippety-clop, clippety- clippety- clippety-clop,

clippety-clop, clippety-clop, flying hooves of steel!
clippety-clop, clippety-clop, flying hooves of steel!
with a stroke of my hoof I?ll make your well spring forth
you?re my Hippocrene baby and I?m your big horse
those greek gods are jealous they got nothin? on us
?cause you?re my woman and I?m your Pegasus
clippety-clop, clippety-clop, flying hooves of steel!
when Medusa was slain by that Greek guy Perseus
that?s when I was born and my name is Pegasus
I?ve got wings on my back that will make you squeal
you can tell when I?m coming by my flying hooves of steel
clippety-clop, clippety-clop, flying hooves of steel!
clippety-clop, clippety-clop, flying hooves of steel!
with a stroke of my hoof I?ll make your well spring forth
you?re my Hippocrene baby and I?m your big horse
those greek gods are jealous they got nothin? on us
?cause you?re my woman and I?m your Pegasus
clippety-clop, clippety-clop, flying hooves of steel!
yeah I?m your stallion baby, hang on real tight
I?m gonna make you moan through the middle of the night
I?ll make you dress in leather and hit me with your paddle
ride me real hard and hang on to my saddle
clippety-clop, clippety-clop, flying hooves of steel!
clippety-clop, clippety-clop, flying hooves of steel!
with a stroke of my hoof I?ll make your well spring forth
you?re my Hippocrene baby and I?m your big horse
those greek gods are jealous they got nothin? on us
?cause you?re my woman and I?m your Pegasus
clippety-clop, clippety-clop, flying hooves of steel!
Four Little Words
(From the album ‘flesh blood wood steel’)
there’s four little words I hate to hear you say
four little words that can ruin my day
four little words to stab me right in the back
four little words that stop me right in my tracks
“Come on let’s talk”
“Baby come on let’s talk
“I’ve been thinking baby
“Come on let’s talk”
when I’m watching a game while I’m drinking a beer
there’s four little words I hate to hear
when I get up close to you naked in bed
four little words I’ve come to dread
you can cuss, you can tease
you can lie, and you can moan
you can stop me from smoking
and make me stay home
I’ll give you the car
yes I’m happy to walk
but just promise me this
we don’t have to talk
when you’re far away and I’m thinking of you
there’s only one thing that I want to do
I’m lonely without you, you leave me no choice
I want to get on the phone and hear your voice
“Come on let’s talk”
“Baby come on let’s talk
“I’ve been thinking baby
“Come on let’s talk”
Going Back To Phoenix
(From the album ‘All Stars And All Sorts’)
I drove out on the 10
came through a desert storm
running to the valley
where the nights are warm
I was looking for revenge
but things got out of hand
I was running low on fuel
I didn’t have a plan
going back to Phoenix
gonna take the midnight plane
going back to Phoenix
ain’t coming back again
I’m searching for the truth
I’m a stranger in this town
I needed some assistance
that’s why I tracked you down
I fell into your trap
you played me sweet and fair
I never saw it coming
you took me fair and square
I answered all your questions
you checked my information
I know I passed the test
but failed investigation
now that I’ve deceived you
I won’t bother you again
I’m going back to Phoenix
gonna take the midnight plane
Good Ones Come Real Hard
(From the album ‘flesh blood wood steel’)
don’t believe a word they say
how could they describe
feeling tired, very tired
breaking words in two
Natalie is coming home
I’ve heard all those things she says about me
picture postcard news
glimpses in a magazine
rumours, lies and truths
facts lie in between
read between the lines
I’ve heard all those things they say about me
it’s a rumour
just a story made up out of words
that are cheap
it’s a rumour
just a story made up out of words
and good ones come real hard to find
talk-show head-line views
every which way you turn
feeling tired, very tired
breaking lives apart
the truth comes home to roost
I’ve heard all those things they say about you
front line gossip
supposition
sources give their poisoned views
the damage comes with back-room voices
it’s gauranteed that we all lose
Hour Of Need
(From the album ‘flesh blood wood steel’)
I’m sitting here in Texas
I drove out from Tennessee
it’s been 23 days since I held you right close to me
gonna drive through the night
can’t you see I’m in my hour of need
I’ve been working like a dog
I’ve been working like a man possessed
I’ve driven every damn highway from the panhandle to the West
I’m gonna turn this rig around
this freebird’s coming home to rest
I drove like a demon
with the devil at my heels
a tiger in my tank
and a lion at my wheels
got to get me some more gas
got to get me some more speed
got to get me some more loving babe
I’m in my hour of need
baby won’t you wait for me
I’m at the state line
I’m racing home to you
and I’ve got loving on my mind
gonna drive through the night
like a lifer who’s been freed
take a day off work, honey
I’m in my hour of need!
I’ve been doing my job
but baby that ain’t no fun
sitting in a truck-stop
when your day’s work is done
I’ve had it with the road
so Denver baby, here I come.
Invective
(From the album ‘Weird Stain’)
if you were a battleship I’d drop my bombs on you
send in the kamikazes and turn your blood to glue
if you were a Picasso hanging on a wall
I’d throw ink at your canvas and I wouldn’t care at all
wouldn’t care if they jailed me and threw away the key
’cause my public would have knowledge of what you’d done to me
this is my invective this is my revenge
for my humiliation that
soon will reach an end
when people turn their back on you walking down the street
revenge will be cold but impossibly sweet
if you were a movie I’d give you two thumbs down
and spread the lousy word of mouth all over town
if you were a microbe of a contagious disease
I’d get the penicillin out and bring you to your knees
wouldn’t care if it killed me or drove me round the bend
the public would soon know of your untimely end
why is everybody else wrong and you’re the only one who’s right
but the innocent bystanders can get no sleep at night
I’ve been losing sleep of late, I’ve been restless in my bed
but I’ll slumber soon enough and you wish you were dead
could care less if you killed me, what message would that send?
the public would soon know of your untimely end
It Doesn’t Matter Much
(From the album ‘flesh blood wood steel’)
it doesn’t matter that much to me baby
you going out with my best friend’s girl
I’m not threatened or intimidated
I’m just surprised is all
if I had known the way you were thinking
if I had noticed you leaning that way
we could have had some real fun parties
you and me and her
you know it’s funny the way life twists things
and nothing is forever, whatever will be
you know that I was lying all those times that I told you
it doesn’t matter much to me
it doesn’t matter that much to me baby
was it something I did or something I said
is it just me or men in general
or is she just better in bed
I’m not just a man who’s been mistreated
and left for another guy
there’s something fundamental I don’t understand
why, Caroline, why?
The Jump
(From the album ‘flesh blood wood steel’)
it’s the jump – can’t explain
it’s the rhythm in my brain
it’s the rattle of my bed
it’s the notes ringing in my head
’cause I’m working out my pain
and I’m sweating in the pouring rain
it’s the jump coming round
it’s the rhythm coming back again
it’s the jump in my shoes
it’s the sweetness of the blues
it’s the memory of her caress
it’s the tension in that long black dress
it’s a state of mind
it’s the way of the world
it’s the sound of money
a bill-fold unfurled
it’s the rattle of the keys
turning in the locks
it’s the crash of the dirt
falling onto your box
it’s the jump all night long
it’s being told what’s right is wrong
it’s a working man at the end of the day
buying a beer with his hard-earned pay
Let’s Get This Straight
(From the Mojo Würken E.P. “Bad Boy”)
I’ve had too much to drink
I can’t even think
I’m seeing stars before my eyes
I spoke to a man who’s way too tanned
who told me nothing but lies
let’s get this straight
we’ve stayed too late
let’s get out of here
I’m way too beat
I’ve had too much to eat
I just can’t take anymore
there’s a girl on the take
with boobs that are fake
and I know she’s going to score
let’s get this straight
can’t hesitate
let’s get out of here
tell me what’s the point
of rolling a joint
just ’cause you think we’ll relax
can’t take no more smoke
or another coke
it’s time we made our tracks
let’s get this straight
there’s been a mistake
let’s get out of here
let’s hunt down the host
and tell him we’re toast
c’mon let’s raise the alarm
my eyes are all red
and I’m ready for bed
with you asleep in my arms
let’s get this straight
I just can’t wait
let’s get out of here
Lord She Could
(from the album ‘Weird Stain’)
(she was) tall as a willow from Abilene
with hair so straight and legs so lean
born in Memphis, but moved to Texas
with money on her mind and eyes so keen
he was a hard working man with eighteen wheels
and no idea how a woman feels
he’d left his broken heart in the Show-Me state
he was dark and quiet and shy about his weight
she could whisper words that would make you want to die inside
she could never make him laugh, but lord, she could make him cry
they met one night out on 17
she was the cutest girl he’d ever seen
he couldn’t resist her and from the moment he kissed her
he was sucked right in – she was any man’s dream
there were moans in the night, there were cries in the dark
scratches on his back, talons in his heart
there were places in his soul that he’d never been
and when his back was turned she crept right in
Tommy, oh Tommy watch your step
this girl is gonna get you yet
the rain fell hard out on the state line
he drove real hard to get home in time
he should have seen it coming but who could tell
she could lie so good and cheat so well
from his death-row cell he would try and explain
the anger, the hurt, the fear, and the pain
there she was in bed with his best friend’s son
there were tears in his eyes, there were bullets in his gun…
she could whisper words that would make you want to die inside
she could never make him laugh, but lord, she could make him cry
Middle Of The Night
(From the album ‘Weird Stain’)
it’s the slice of an ordinary life
a picture in a book, a letter in a drawer
it’s a footprint captured in the sand
a scar on a finger, a message from a friend
it’s a memory you can’t erase
a dying breath at the end of an affair
you could rob me in the middle of the night
but these are the things
these are the things
these are the things
I’ll take to my grave
it’s the sound in the distance
a fragrance on the breeze, a star up in the sky
it’s a miracle you can’t explain
a prayer that was answered, a wish that came true
it’s a memory I can’t erase
a careless word at the end of an affair
I get these moments in the middle of the night
and these are the things
these are the things
these are the things
I’ll take to my grave
I’ve watched obsession eat at my life
I’ve seen my friends carried away
there’s a fear that’s shivvered in my bones
and demons are demons whatever their names
it’s a memory you can’t erase
the bitter taste at the end of an affair
when they take me in the middle of the night
these are the things
these are the things
these are the things
I’ll take to my grave
No Two Bit Judge
(From the Mojo Würken E.P. “Bad Boy”)
I’m a cowboy of the road man-made for the part
a wide wheel exponent of that gear-changing art
my eye is trained on that thin white line
my ear is tuned to that transmission whine
roll on! roll on!
the cops can whistle and the cops can whine
the judge can threaten and the courts can fine
but no two bit judge and no three dollar fine
gonna stop this boy
from a real good time
no Plymouth, Chevvy, Ford or Corvette
has ever come close to burnin’ me yet
and the truckers in their Peterbilts, Macks and Fords
call me on the radio and watch for the law
come on! big buddy come on!
no gasoline shortage no middle east war
gonna take my foot from offa the floor
no speed limit sign or a red stop light
gonna slow me down or spoil my night
roll on! roll on!
Rubber Band Man
(From the album ‘flesh blood wood steel’ )
I’m a rubber band man and I’m bouncing on back to you
I’m a rubber band man and I’m bouncing on back to you
I’ve tried other women but they don’t feel like you do
you can wind me round your finger throw me away like string
you can wind me round your finger throw me away like string
but I’ll come right back and I won’t feel a thing
I’m elastic, plastic, ready to come back home
I’m elastic, plastic, ready to come back home
I’ve bounced back baby, never more to roam
well come on honey let me spend the night
well come on honey let me spend the night
’cause I’m a rubber band man and you’ve wound me up real tight
Running Away
(From the album ‘All Stars And All Sorts’ )
Nigel Dick, Andy Murray
(dickwords & music / handyman music)
check your bag, pack your clothes
and you’re on your way
a ticket and a glance
and you’ve run away
eight in the morning
the light doesn’t seem the same
eight at night
it’s a different kind of game
you said goodbye, leaving it behind
you’re running away
you’re on a one way track, never looking back
you’re running away
a key for a bed and a hotel room
no jobs, no jobs in this town
you’ll be leaving soon
“what’s it like out there?” they all say
“I’ve heard that the sun shines”
but you’re already moving on
’cause friends are hard to find
stand by the phone and think again
will your pride, your pride take the blow
can you stand the pain?
back in that town, nothing seems the same
so you grab your pack and you take your clothes
you’re going to be leaving this town again
Shy Girl
(From the Columbia Screen Gems Film “Seeing Double”
and the album ‘Weird Stain’)
Nigel Dick, Robby Scharf
(dickwords & music / Robby Scharf Music) BMI
she’s a shy girl
don’t know why girl
this young girl won’t make up her mind
sits on the fence, there’s so much time
she’s terrifically wonderfully out of the loop
she’s specifically, intentionally not in the group
it’s a shame girl
who’s to blame girl
she won’t wear balck it’s not her thing
she doesn’t care much for Rome or Turin
she’s travelled the world but wants to stay home
just give her a book and leave her alone
but she’s my girl
don’t ask why girl
don’t take her for a walk down Rodeo Drive
she wouldn’t be seen there dead or alive
don’t try to impress her it’s not her thing
you won’t turn her head with a diamond ring
an enigma
who loves to wear fur
what secrets lurk behind those eyes
what half untruths, what little white lies
enticed, intrigued, engaged and enwrapt
she’s tied me down I’m impossibly trapped
and she’s my girl
such a fly girl
Shower Song
(From the Columbia Screen Gems Film “Seeing Double”)
just a shower of little droplets
falling from the sky
little droplets clean my pores out
though I don’t know why
scrub, scrub, scrub – scrub, scrub, scrub
don’t know what it means
scrub, scrub, scrub – scrub, scrub, scrub
makes me nice and clean
take the soap and make it foamy
wash off all the stains
bye-bye dirt here comes the foam
to wash you down the drain
scrub, scrub, scrub – scrub, scrub, scrub
my tummy’s such a mess
scrub, scrub, scrub – scrub, scrub, scrub
makes it nice and fresh
63 Strat
(From the Mojo Würken E.P. “Bad Boy”)
Nigel Dick / Jace Smith
(dickwords & music / Jace Smith Music)
I lost my guitar so I went to the store
the salesman said, “Hey, what you lookin’ for?
here’s some great new models what you think about that?”
Nah! just give me new strings on a 63 Strat
“We’ve got custom built pick-ups and they sound great live
sitting on a cherry red 335
I got a gold Les Paul that wails like a cat.”
Nah! just give me new strings on a 63 Strat
“You should try this new shit that came in from Japan
or a Paul Reed Smith that was built by hand
look at that inlay all down the back.”
Nah! just give me new strings on a 63 Strat
I love the way she feels, I love the way she plays
I love it when she sings, and I love what she says
I let my fingers kiss her neck, then I play her real hard
she’s got a five-way switch and a white pick guard!
so he threw in a case and a set of new strings
I bought me a strap and some other fine things
I put on my coat and I put on my hat
and I walked out the store and I never looked back
Sound Of A Breaking Heart
(From the album ‘All Stars And All Sorts’)
Nigel Dick, Andy Murray
(dickwords & music / handyman music)
what’s that sound, sound like thunder
deep whirlpool gonna drag you under
don’t be alarmed
it’s the sound of my breaking heart
what’s that sound like a volcano rumbling
that’s my world it’s just come a tumbling
down around me
with the sound of my breaking heart
your love baby was everything to me
but since you left me honey I’m in misery
there’s a hurricane a risin’ and a raging sea
there’s a storm that’s a breaking
and it’s right over me
what’s that sound like the tall trees falling
all broken up it’s me that’s calling
out in the night
with the sound of my breaking heart
ain’t no rescue team can help me where I am
no helicopter, firetruck or black transam
like a disaster movie without a perfect end
I’m trapped here on a ledge
and I’m alone without a friend
earthquake coming, howling gale
12.5 on a ten point scale
no big deal
just the sound of my breaking heart
Stars & Starmen
(from the album ‘Weird Stain’)
you may sing of your whizz-kid
you may talk of your starman
you can tell us all you did
remember if you can
and so I analysed the songs
and watched you from afar
but why?
I cut your pictures from the magazines
the pin-ups and absurd
through thick and thin I listened in
and hung on every word
on Saturdays I made the gigs
and watched you from the bar
but why?
and now the heroes stumble in
across the highs and lows
Jean Genie’s gone to Croydon dealt a bitter blow
and so I bought the 45’s
once bitten always high
but why?
why, oh why?
Supermodel Wives
(from the album ‘Weird Stain’)
they were brothers, just like brothers outside a downtown store
ignored and unemployed, out to make a little score
just a pistol in a bag and a stocking to the head
one little misunderstanding and the counter-clerk is dead
no chance of going back when your day’s work is done
the plan went awry and now it’s murder one
no supermodel wives
no Martha Stewart lives
no Mercedes in the drive
just trying to stay alive
it’s a long way from DC down to South LA
and the politician’s purse comes from the NRA
you’ve got your freedom of speech and your campaign funds
but the numbers don’t add up when there’s so many guns
don’t give me that crap about the bill of rights
there’s people on the streets with telescopic sights
they’re brothers, just like brothers, just like Smith & Wesson
making licence plates and learning from their lesson
and if there’d been no gun they’d still be doing time
in the penitentiary for their shabby little crime
no chance of a future or supermodel wives
but the dime-store clerk would still be alive
no supermodel wives
no Martha Stewart lives
no Mercedes in the drive
just trying to stay alive
2gether
(From the 2gether album ‘2gether’ on TVT Records)
Veit Renn / Nigel Dick
(Zomba Enterprises, Inc./Music By Video Inc.)
we’re all gonna hang 2gether
you and me forever
you’re the one I treasure
2gether, 2gether
hang 2gether
you and me forever
you’re the one I treasure
2gether, 2gether
gotta get it, gotta get it, gotta get it down
gotta get it, gotta get it, gotta get it 2gether baby
if you’re alone and you’re feeling blue
then turn to the person next to you
there’s not a thing that we can’t do
2gether, 2gether
and when you’re hurting deep inside
don’t turn away and don’t ask why
open your heart and don’t be shy
2gether, 2gether
’cause we’re all one
the same through and through
I’m here for you girl don’t be blue
listen to me here’s what we’ll do
we?re all gonna hang 2gether
you and me forever
you’re the one I treasure
2gether, 2gether
hang 2gether
you and me forever
you’re the one I treasure
2gether, 2gether
gotta get it, gotta get it, gotta get it down
gotta get it, gotta get it, gotta get it 2gether baby
and when you’re walking down the street
just smile at everyone you meet
we’re all dancing to the beat
2gether, 2gether
’cause we are all one
the same through and through
I’m here for you girl don’t be blue
listen to me here’s what we’ll do
we?re all gonna hang 2gether
you and me forever
you’re the one I treasure
2gether, 2gether
hang 2gether
you and me forever
you’re the one I treasure
2gether, 2gether
gotta get it, gotta get it, gotta get it down
gotta get it, gotta get it, gotta get it 2gether baby
we’re 5 guys 2gether
singing in harmony
doug, jerry, chad,
mickey and q.t.
we?re all gonna hang 2gether
you and me forever
you’re the one I treasure
2gether, 2gether
hang 2gether
you and me forever
you’re the one I treasure
2gether, 2gether
gotta get it, gotta get it, gotta get it down
gotta get it, gotta get it, gotta get it 2gether baby
Thank You Alanis Morissette
(From the album ‘All Stars And All Sorts’ )
you thought that I was lying
that’s the subtext of what you said
you screamed and hurled abuse at me
and wished that I was dead
“how dare you come back into my life!”
those were your very words
“you’re wrong, you’re lying you’re full of shit!”
I swear that’s what I heard
I resent your pulpit preaching
I’ve shed tears on your account
I despise your goody-two-shoes act
and your sermon from the mount
I haven’t got delusions
about my ranking in a list of saints
but now I swear I’m less confused
by your litany of complaints
I don’t see myself as guiltless
of your list of lovers crimes
but you’re no innocent bystander
just a girl who sits and whines
thank you Alanis Morissette
for exhuming this bag of worms
I hate the men who lied to you
now I must live life on their terms!
There’s A Hole In My Bed
(From the album ‘flesh blood wood steel’ )
Nigel Dick / Jace Smith
there’s a hole in my bed
where my baby used to be
now I’m feeling real sad
and I hear she’s real happy
I told her on the telephone
you gotta come home please
can’t you see I’m begging you
I’m down here on my knees
hey baby can’t you tell
that I’m in misery
’cause there’s this great big hole in my bed
where my baby used to be
there’s a hook on the door
where her nightdress used to hang
she took all my records
and the needle for her phonogram
I’m lonesome for the smell
of her cheap cologne
sent a message: ‘come on baby
won’t you please come home?’
Walk Away
(From the album ‘All Stars And All Sorts’ )
don’t come crawlin’
don’t ask for my name
I’ve thrown away your picture
I don’t want to play your game
walk away
walk away
’cause you stole my love
don’t come cryin’
don’t shed your tears
there’s no room in my heart
nothing for you here
no use in sending letters
won’t do you no good at all
don’t ask my friends you won’t find me
they won’t answer, they won’t answer
now that it’s over
go your own way
and don’t you come back
I know you’d never stay
Weird Stain
(from the album ‘Weird Stain’)
there’s two cigarettes by the ashtray, two glasses by the bed
there’s lipstick on the filters, but no sign of why she fled
her car’s not in the carport, but her clothes are in the drawer
she didn’t stop to write a note and there’s a weird stain on the floor
I know we had our problems but I always tried my best
I tried to give her everything, I guess I failed the test
and so she took a lover and crept out through the door
now there’s footprints in the hallway and that weird stain on the floor
I’m calling 911
I’m calling 911
I think my baby’s missing
I think my baby’s gone
and now they’re asking questions, taking pictures, making calls
they say I shouldn’t worry, but why the footprints in the hall?
they’re making me feel better, they’ve put out an APB
and I’m hoping that the law can bring my baby on back to me
the good news is they found her
just like they said they would
the bad news is she killed him
I guess she’s gone for good
the electric chair is waiting, baby’s on the waiting list
I thought we had the answers, how did it come to this?
and so I’m left here asking what good my life is for
all she’s left me is her underwear and that weird stain on the floor
You’re My Baby Girl
(From the 2gether album ‘2gether’ on TVT Records)
(Brian Gunn, Mark Gunn, Nigel Dick, Evan Farmer)
(MTV Songs, Inc./Music By Video, Inc.)
12th of April we decided it was time
I was feeling good, you were looking fine
on the basement floor with TRL behind
you were loving me with Carson Daly on your mind
you’re my baby girl
you know that you are
you’re my honeybunch
my sweet lucky star
so put your hand in mine
I will slap your sweet behind
you?re my baby girl
E is for Erin and making out with you
R is for wrong that’s what you like to do
I is for eyes that are smiling at me
N is for nasty which we do constantly
hot dogs and hamburger, unzip me please
Erin likes ketchup but go easy on the cheese
I like to look down on her naked from above
she’s just like Gwyneth Paltrow
I’m like Shakespeare in Love!
you’re my baby girl
you know that you are
you’re my honeybunch
my sweet lucky star
so put your hand in mine
I will slap your sweet behind
You Shanghaied Me (To Shanghai)
(From the album ‘flesh blood wood steel’)
what am I doing here?
why am I still in town?
everything was great
until you turned it upside down
I’m on a slippery slope
and I can’t get a grip
can’t listen to you
won’t take no more of your lip
I’ve had enough abuse
I won’t pay no more of your bills
you’ve got to be sick
to get off on those kind of thrills
I’d have settled for Denver, Paris or Rome
I was ready to leave
but you made me stay home
you shanghaied me to Shanghai
you shanghaied me to Shanghai
I had it all planned
I had it figured out for sure
a fight’s a fight
but now we’ve got a full scale war
you fight so dirty
and you fight so mean
you’re a fire-talking-walking
kissing-killing machine
you shanghaied me to Shanghai
you shanghaied me to Shanghai
are there articles of war
for this kind of scene
where the guy is so cool
and the girl is so mean?
I can’t get a handle (on) what
you’re doing this for
I’m gonna leave town can’t take anymore
I’m gonna make my break sometime
after curfew tonight
better watch out babe
I’m gonna put up one hell of a fight
won’t take no prisoners
I can guarantee
if someone gets hurt
well it won’t be me!
you shanghaied me to Shanghai
you shanghaied me to Shanghai
